I created this very meaty layered bean dip for my then boyfriend who is now my husband, years ago. He loves meat in everything, so I recreated an old recipe that I had, by adding additional seasoning and lean ground beef, and it has been a family favorite ever since. This is a very filling appetizer. Great for hearty eaters.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix taco seasoning and cumin with ground round and saute' in a large skillet. Drain excess fat.
Spread one can of refried beans in bottom of a buttered glass dish 9X13X2. Top with half the olives, half the salsa, half the cheese, and half of the meat mixture. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
Bake in preheated 350 degree F oven for 30 to 35 minutes. or until heated through and cheese is bubbly. Garnish with chopped green onions. Serve with sour cream & tortilla chips while still hot.
This recipe has been family approved for almost 20 years.
