So I made this cake again on Christmas Eve to take to a friends home. Much better!! I realized what I did wrong. I was reading the recipe from my phone and misread the amount of butter to add. I added 2 sticks of butter this time and it was moist. I made and used cream cheese frosting and added the nuts. I will sift my flour next time as well as use cake flour. I am merely experimenting to see which I like best. But the recipe was really good this time and I will make it again. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Thank you for the recipe. I did make it for my holiday party but I messed up on the amount of butter on the cake and it was drrrrry. I did make changes to the icing and made butter cream cheese with nuts. It was delish. I do not like messing up on a recipe. I like to see my guest enjoy my cooking. I will redeem myself and make this recipe again, I have to. Can I use oil instead of butter? And will it make it more moist?

I don't understand the butter, you said 1/4 cup in pecans to toast and remaining in batter, how much is that? Then 1 Cup in frosting so how much do you cream with sugar, eggs, flour, etc?
