The flavor of the cake mix and the fruit used can be varied. I have used yellow cake mix with peaches and also with pineapple with great results.


1 box
Spice cake mix
2 can(s)
Sliced apples, undrained (not pie filling)
1 stick
margarine or butter, melted
1/2 c
chopped pecans

Directions Step-By-Step

Dump apples in 9" x 13" cake pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle dry cake mix over apples. Pour melted margarine all over dry mix. Top with chopped pecans. Bake at 375° for about 40 minutes or until bubbly. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream.

Oh, I don't melt my butter either, just cut it up into small cubes and drop it all over the cake mix.

I make this all the time and always use apple pie filling! It turns out won-der-ful! We like it better using a yellow or white cake mix though. And I always add a little cinnamon to my pie filling.

what would happen if you DID use the apple pie filling?

If you can't find the sliced apples, sliced pears work great! I made a recipe like this in the crock pot (on high for 3 hours). I couldn't find the canned sliced apples, so I bought sliced pears, and it was delicious!
