Every time I make this cobbler I get requests for the recipe. One of our friends said it was the best peach cobbler he had ever eaten. I found this several years ago in a magazine. I have used frozen or fresh peaches in this recipe and that works well. Need enough peaches to completely cover the bottom of the pan.

Notes from the Test Kitchen:
Warm cobbler with ice cream on top?! Hard to beat in my book! One bite of this dessert and I can understand why everyone wants the recipe.  Thanks for sharing with us, Laura!

Ingredients

1 can(s)
(29-oz) sliced peaches, drained.
5 slice
white bread (can use white or honey wheat bread)
1 1/2 c
sugar
2 Tbsp
flour
1
egg, beaten
1 stick
margarine or butter, melted

Directions Step-By-Step

1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place peaches in baking dish (8x8, or larger) which has been sprayed with cooking spray. Cut crust from bread and cut each slice into five strips. Place bread strips over peaches. Mix sugar, flour, egg, and margarine, blending well. Pour mixture over bread strips, making sure they are well covered. Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.

This is the best and easiest cobbler I've ever made. The hubby also says it's a keeper. Next time I will add a little less sugar and add a little cinnamon to the topping. Also I used spiced peaches because that is what I had on hand and it was awesome. Can't wait to try it with other fruits.

Laura, I am trying to understand where does the FLAVOR come from in this peach cobbler? You have no kind of extracts or spices? Just trying to figure out what's keeping it from tasting bland?

This sounds delicious! Thoughts on how this would taste with whole wheat bread? We never have white bread in the house so it would be great if I could just substitute wheat instead.
