Laura's Story

Every time I make this cobbler I get requests for the recipe. One of our friends said it was the best peach cobbler he had ever eaten. I found this several years ago in a magazine. I have used frozen or fresh peaches in this recipe and that works well. Need enough peaches to completely cover the bottom of the pan.

(29-oz) sliced peaches, drained.
5 slice
white bread (can use white or honey wheat bread)
1 1/2 c
2 Tbsp
egg, beaten
1 stick
margarine or butter, melted

Directions Step-By-Step

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place peaches in baking dish (8x8, or larger) which has been sprayed with cooking spray. Cut crust from bread and cut each slice into five strips. Place bread strips over peaches. Mix sugar, flour, egg, and margarine, blending well. Pour mixture over bread strips, making sure they are well covered. Bake 35 to 45 minutes or until golden brown.

    Peach cobbler is one of my favorites - any kind of fruit pie or cobbler but as you know, some are much better than others. I'm going to give this one a try one of these days. Thanks for sharing.

    This sounded so yummy I had to try this. I used a milk and honey white bread, because all I could find was hawaiian rolls. I put the bread strips on top in a criss cross. I also cut back on some of the white sugar and added a little brown sugar and sprinkled with cinnamon. I wasn't really happy with the looks of it, but warm with vanilla ice cream knocked our socks off. I think the next one I'll try cubing the bread. This is great, thanks so much for sharing This is a fun one!

    I really enjoyed making this simple but so yum cobbler.
    I did do some extra's and my family enjoyed it. Thank you!
    When I mixed the egg,butter and sugar it was a bit too thick. I then added some milk to make it like 'pancake' consistency. I then sprinkled cinnamon and topped that off with a bit of heavy whipping cream to add more richness to this already delicious reipe.
