Ingredients For polish sausage (kielbasa) soup

  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 1/2 lb
    fresh or smoked kielbasa
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 2 c
    chopped celery
  • 4 c
    shredded cabbage
  • 2 c
    sliced carrots
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried thyme
  • 2 Tbsp
    white vinegar
  • 3 c
    beef broth
  • 2 c
    water
  • 3 c
    peeled and chopped potatoes
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • chopped fresh dill - optional garnish

How To Make polish sausage (kielbasa) soup

    Melt butter in a large skillet, add onions, celery and sausage, cook over medium heat until sausage is lightly browned
  • 2
    Pour into a soup pot and add remaining ingredients except for potatoes
  • 3
    Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 1 hour

    Add potatoes and cook until tender
  • 5
    Season with salt and pepper and add dill if desired
