grandma olney's soup

Recipe by

Marathon, IA

My Great-Grandmother, Mary Olney, had a very large family and needed to feed them on their Iowa pioneer farm and keep them full. She used this easy family recipe from John Adams family (yes the president)made from simple ingredients. She would put this on the back of her wood burning stove and cook it all day. It's even better the second day! Delicious with thick, crusty slices of artisan bread.
