This soup has been in my family for three generations and is a staple food with us. It was obtained from a family friend originally and each generation added their own touches. This is my version.

Ingredients For hamburger soup

  • 1 lb
    hamburger, ground chuck preferably
  • 8 oz
    mixed vegetables (with lima beans)frozen
  • 16 oz
    light kidney beans
  • 16 oz
    crushed tomatoes
  • 16 oz
    tomato sauce
  • 2
    chicken bouillon, cubes
  • 2 c
    water
  • 1/2 tsp
    basil, dried
  • 1/2 tsp
    thyme, dried
  • 1/4 tsp
    rosemary, dried
  • 1
    bay leaf
  • 2 or 3 md
    potatoes, cubed

How To Make hamburger soup

  • 1
    Brown hamburger in stock pot until no longer pink. Drain and rinse.

    Drain and rinse kidney beans and add to pot.
  • 3
    Add remaining ingredients and bring to boil for 1 minute.
  • 4
    Cover and reduce heat to medium low. Cook until potatoes are tender, stirring occasionally.

    Serve and enjoy!
