Talk about comfort food! This is an old family recipe that's great hot or cold. Traditionally, we served this with warm sour dough bread. Yum!!!

Ingredients For nanna's vichyssoise

  • 4
    leeks, thinly sliced
  • 1 md
    onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 5 md
    potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 4 c
    chicken broth
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt
  • 2 c
    milk, whole
  • 2 c
    medium cream (or half and half)
  • 1 c
    heavy cream

How To Make nanna's vichyssoise

  • 1
    Cook leeks and onions in butter until slightly transparent.

    Add potatoes, broth and salt. Cook 35 to 40 minutes. Pour small batches into blender or food processor and blend until smooth; then pour back into pot.

    Return to heat. Add milk and creams. Serve hot or cold.
