Ingredients For cream of broccoli soup

  • 2 Tbsp
    onion, chopped
  • 2 c
    chicken broth
  • 1/2 c
    butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1/4 tsp
    dried basil
  • 1 c
    half and half
  • 3 c
    fresh broccoli, chopped

How To Make cream of broccoli soup

  • 1
    Saute onion in butter (or magarine) in a Dutch oven.

    Add flour, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly. Gradually add milk, half and half and chicken broth; cook over medium heat, stirring until mixture is thickened and bubbly. Stir in salt, garlic powder and basil. Add broccoli; cover and cook over medium heat 15 minutes or until broccoli is tender.
