With pecans being so plentiful in South Lousiana, good cooks find all kinds of ways to use them. Sugared pecans with different flavors are a tasty way to utilize this plentiful crop.

Ingredients For orange pecans

  • 1 lg
    orange, juice and rind
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 qt
    pecan halves

How To Make orange pecans

  • 1
    Squeeze orange and reserve juice in a heavy sauce pan. Grate rind and add to juice.

    Add sugar and bring to a rolling boil.
  • 3
    Add nuts gradually, stirring contantly until sugar is absorbed.
  • 4
    Remove from heat and continues to stir until nuts separate. Turn out onto waxed paper to dry.
