Ingredients For seasoned steak fries

  • 1 bag frozen fries, such as ore ida texas crispers, 1 lb. 14 oz
  • 1 t. ground cumin
  • minced zest of 1 lime
  • sauce: 2 t. unsalted butter
  • 1 t. red pepper flakes
  • 2 t. masa harina or flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded monterey jack cheese
  • salt and fresh lime juice to taste

How To Make seasoned steak fries

    Preheat oven to 450 with a baking sheet inside. Toss together fries, cumin and zest in a bowl. Transfer to hot baking sheet. Bake fries until crisp, according to package directions. For the sauce, heat butter and pepper flakes in large pan over medium. Whisk in masa harina and cook 1 to 2 minutes. Gradually add milk, whisking until smooth. Bring mixture to a boil; reduce heat and simmer until thick, 2 to 3 minutes. Whisk in cheese until melted. Season with salt and lime juice. Serve fries with cheese sauce and Texas style chili.
