It's hard to believe that I had never had this American holiday favorite before meeting my husband. Now it's kind of my thing to do for the holiday dinner table, especially since I play with it (I crushed some leftover croutons one year and it's become a permanent part of my recipe). I found my original recipe on the side of a Durkee Fried Onion can, and modified it slightly from there. . .

Ingredients For green bean casserole

10 3/4 ozcream of mushroom soup

1/2 cmilk
-
1 tspsoy sauce
-
dashpepper
-
4 ccut green beans
-
1/2 ccrushed seasoned croutons

6 ozcan of french fried onions
How To Make green bean casserole

1Combine soup, milk, soy sauce, pepper, beans, and a handful of french fried onions. Add to a round or square casserole dish.

2Bake for 25 minutes at 350*F.

3Top with croutons and remaining onions. Bake 5 minutes more.

4***NOTE: 4 cups green beans equals 16 - 20 oz frozen green beans, 32 oz. canned green beans, or 1-1/2 lb fresh green beans.
