This is one of those recipes that each family seems to have a version of its own, yet this version is very easy and simple to make and holds a robust of flavor. I (when I was much younger...) used to help my Dad make this and now have "little helpers" doing the same. Hope you give it a try! Excellent side to any dish.

Ingredients For gramp's coleslaw

  • 1/2 c
    white vinegar
  • 1/3 c
    vegetable oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1/2 c
    finely shredded carrots
  • 6 c
    finely shredded green cabbage

How To Make gramp's coleslaw

    Whisk, in a large bowl vinegar, oil, water, salt, sugar, and pepper until blended. Add carrots and cabbage and thoroughly toss until well-blended.

    Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow cabbage to slightly wilt and flavors to mingle. Mix prior to serving.
