Barbara brought this delightful casserole to our Women's Table Thanksgiving Gathering. Needless to say, there were no leftovers of this dish. This is a great traditional Thanksgiving recipe.

  • SWEET POTATOES
  • 3 c
    canned sweet potatoes, drained
  • 1/2 c
    melted butter
  • 1/3 c
    milk
  • 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2
    beaten eggs
  • 1 pinch
    salt to taste
  • TOPPING
  • 5 Tbsp
    melted butter
  • 2/3 c
    brown sugar
  • 2/3 c
    flour
  • 1 c
    pecan pieces

How To Make sweet potato casserole with pecan topping

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Mash the sweet potatoes and add the melted butter, milk, sugar, vanilla, beaten eggs, and a pinch of salt. Stir until well mixed. Pour into a shallow 2 1/2-quart baking dish.

    For the topping, combine the butter, brown sugar, flour, and pecan pieces in a small bowl, using your fingers to create moist crumbs. Sprinkle generously over the casserole. Bake for 25-35 minutes, until the edges pull away from the sides of the pan and the top is golden brown. Let stand to cool and solidify for a few minutes before serving.
