perfect mashed potatoes

This is deticated to all our beginner cooks out there. Mashed potatoes are the ultimate comfort food, and are really easy to do, yet most cookbooks don't even mention them. Every one here has a way of making them, here's my way.

Ingredients For perfect mashed potatoes

  • 3 to 4 lg
    potatoes, russetts are the best
  • 4 Tbsp
    butter (1/2 stick)
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1/2 tsp
    each salt and pepper or to taste

How To Make perfect mashed potatoes

  • 1
    Peel and dice the potatoes into 1 inch or larger pieces, the potatoes will cook faster if they are smaller.

    Cover potatoes with cold water and bring to a boil, keep an eye on them to not boil over. When they start to boil, turn heat back a little. if it looks like they are going to boil over, add a little cold water, that will settle them down.

    When the potatoes are fork tender, not mushy, drain the water off them.

    Keep in the pot and with an electric mixer, whip til smooth.

    Add the butter and whip til smooth.

    Add the salt and pepper

    Add the milk and whip til smooth
