This makes the best Au Gratin potatoes I've ever eaten! So yummy! You could add ham or smoked sausage or even cubed spam to this if you like it and make it into a main dish casserole!

Ingredients For au gratin potatoes

  • 7-8 md
    potatoes
  • 3 c
    milk
  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 2 tsp
    paprika
  • 8 oz
    shredded mild cheddar cheese

How To Make au gratin potatoes

    Peel potatoes and slice into thin rounds. Layer in a 9x13 glass baking dish.

    Melt butter over medium heat in a saucepan. Add flour and stir until blended. Add milk, stirring until it is beginning to thicken. Add salt, pepper and paprika.

    Add shredded cheddar to mix. Stir until the cheese has completely melted and mixture is smooth and thickened.

    Pour over potatoes and place in a 350 degree preheated oven. Bake uncovered for 45 minutes or until golden brown on top and potatoes are cooked through.
