My friend Amel,from Arkansas makes great candied yams,here's her recipe. I love the vanilla flavor in these potatoes.

Ingredients For amel's candied yams

1 large or 2 medium yams,sliced into wedges

1 1/2 c sugar
-
1 stick of butter
-
3 t. real vanilla extract

1 t. nutmeg
-
1 c water
How To Make amel's candied yams

1Mix all ingredients . Cover. Bake at 350 until potatoes are tender and juice is syrup consistency.
