hot and spicy tomato salsa

Ingredients For hot and spicy tomato salsa

    tomatoes, medium, ripe and coarsley chopped
  • 1 tsp
    olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground red pepper
  • 1/4 c
    lemon juice
  • 1/3 c
    dry white wine
  • 3 Tbsp
    onions, finely chopped
  • 2 sm
    jalapeno chile peppers, seeded and finely chopped
  • 6
    garlic cloves, medium and minced
  • 15 oz
    tomato puree
  • 1/4 c
    cilantro, fresh and chopped

How To Make hot and spicy tomato salsa

    In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients except cilantro.

    Bring to a boil over high heat.

    Reduce heat to medium; cook, uncovered, 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Stir in cilantro.

    Serve hot or cold as a dip for chips or as a relish.

    Makes 4 cups.

    Can be frozen for up to 2 months in tightly covered container.

    VARIATIONS: Unsweetened apple juice can be used in place of 1/3 cups dry white wine.
