I make this sauce to use with pork, chicken, sausage, or shrimp. It is very versatile and very easy to make. I have even used frozen popcorn chicken to make a quick meal.

    pineapple chunks
  • 1 jar
    maraschino cherries (no stems)

How To Make sweet & sour sauce

  • 1
In a small sauce pan combine vinegar, brown sugar, ketchup, and soy sauce. Whisk together to combine.
  • 2
Bring to a boil. While waiting, drain pineapple and cherries of juice. Cut bell pepper and onion into strips
  • 3
Mix cornstarch and water in a small mug or bowl. Add to sauce and whisk. The sauce will begin to thicken, reduce heat.
  • 4
Add onions, peppers, pineapples, and cherries. Just keep on heat long enough to each the veggies and fruit. Remove from heat.

Pour sauce over sausage, popcorn chicken, cooked and peeled shrimp. Or simply use as a dipping sauce. This is a tasty sauce, for kids don't serve them the onions and peppers if they don't like those. I'm sure they will love the fruit.
