This is a nice pepper sauce that can be sprinkled onto peas, greens, tomatoes, or anything else you would like to add a little bite to. You will need a jar or two with a shaker type top. A condiment bottle like that used for ketchup or mustard, or a small vinegar bottle will do, as well. I use an empty vinegar bottle to keep some marinating, but serve it in an old Trappey's Peppers bottle with a shaker lid. Wally-World has glass oil and vinegar bottles that make a nice presentation.

Ingredients For hot pepper sauce

  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    pickling salt
  • hot peppers such as habaneros, serranos, jalepenos, etc

How To Make hot pepper sauce

  • 1
In a saucepan, bring to a boil the vinegar, water and salt.
  • 2
Prepare the peppers by washing, capping and roughly chopping them.
  • 3
Pack the peppers into your jar, pour the boiling brine over them. Let cool, then put in the refrigerator. Allow them to marinade at least one day before you begin enjoying the resulting hot vinegar. Personally, I enjoy the flavor of the serranos mixed with jalepenos. When your vinegar is gone, make a new batch of brine and reuse your peppers. I usually reuse them about 3 times, then I use them in fresh salsa.
