How To Make charlotte swisher's apple butter

1Cut apples and cook in the cider until very tender. Make applesauce with the cooked apples. Put applesauce in electric oven. ( I just did it on the stove in large pot). Add Spices and cook for about 6 hours. After 5 hours, start checking it for thickness. This must be stirred frequently, but not constantly. When I add my spices, I combined them in a bowl and stirred in some of the hot applesauce and then add to cooker. If cider is not available to cook the apples in, use water. This will make about 24 pints. Put apple butter in pint jars. Process in hot water bath for 5 minutes or in pressure canner 5lbs pressure for 10 seconds. I did half this recipe.
