My mom showed me how to make this great old standard salad dressing when I was a kid! She mixed the mayo, ketchup and Worcestershire together and used that, but I added the other ingredients... Now, I make my own salad dressing all the time! It's just better when it is made fresh! I do a lot of my cooking by "eyeball method"...Rarely do I measure anything, so I tried to be as accurate here as I could.

First, I recommend you have a small electric chopper. These are worth their weight in gold! Place your onion, bell pepper and capers (optional)in the chopper and pulse for a few seconds. Using a rubber spatula, scrape contents of chopper into a mixing bowl. Measure out 2 cups of mayo and mix well. Add Worcestershire Sauce. Then add your sweet relish. If this mixture is too thick, you may add a little milk (skim milk is okay)to get the desired thickness. (You can also use plain soy milk if you wish.)

Put in a jar with a tight fitting lid or dressing cruet and refrigerate until serving. Keep well chilled. This works great as a veggie dip too! Note: Try some of this on your next homemade hamburger... What do you think McDonald's "Special Sauce" is? ;-)
