Ingredients For universal "home brew" shake & bake coating

  • PRE-MIX
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk pancake mix
  • 1/2 c
    fine soda cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 tsp
    paprika
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    commercially prepared seasoned salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper

How To Make universal "home brew" shake & bake coating

    Combine all mix ingredients. Mix well Soak or dip fish in water, beer, or beaten egg mixture before coating.

    Alternate Recipe: Dip fish fillets in beaten eggs, then roll in potato flakes. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. For a different taste try dipping the fried fish in sweet pickle juice.

    Alternate Recipe: Place skinned and filleted freshwater drum in lemon juice for 1/2 hour. Roll in flour, salt, pepper, and paprika before frying. When served cold they taste almost like a pork chop.
