You will LOVE this salad. I could eat this salad combination for lunch or dinner, alone or as a starter. It is an absolutely fabulous, luxurious salad-and that’s not often said about a salad. Everyone, in fact, loves this salad.

Ingredients For cheese apple salad

  • 1 tsp
    fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 c
    dairy sour cream (can substitute with plain yogurt)
  • 2 md
    tart apples*
  • lemon juice
  • 1/2 c
    (2 oz.) shredded swiss cheese
  • 1/2 c
    (2 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 c
    chopped celery
  • 1/3 c
    halved, seedless green or red grapes
  • 1/4 c
    coarsely chopped walnuts
  • 4
    leaves romaine lettuce

How To Make cheese apple salad

    In a small mixing bowl, stir the 1 teaspoon lemon juice into sour cream; cover and chill.

    Cut apples into thin slices, leaving peel on; sprinkle with additional lemon juice. In medium mixing bowl, toss together apple slices, Swiss and Cheddar cheeses, celery, grapes and walnuts. Serve fruit-cheese mixture on individual lettuce lined salad plates; top with spoonfuls of sour cream mixture.
