Every year we smoke our own turkey for Thanksgiving and its done right in our oven. This is a little time consuming but worth it.

Ingredients For brine for smoking turkey

  • 1/2 c
    pickling salt
  • 1 c
    mortons tender quick
  • 1 bottle
    liquid smoke flavoring (i believe it's a 4oz bottle)
  • water enough to cover turkey

How To Make brine for smoking turkey

    In a large container (I use a 5 gal bucket with lid) mix everything together, put turkey into the brine and cover with water if it's not enough.

    after 24 hours take bird out of brine and pat dry, place in a 350*F oven for one hour then turn oven down to 250*F and cook turkey until its done about 3 to 4 hours.
