chunky sloppy rose burgers

After doing my grocery shopping, I decided to make something that was not too time consuming. I wanted to make sloppy Joes, but wanted them to be homemade & thick where it would hug the bun. I added lots of chunky veggies to make it thick & hearty. Used my favorite catsup Heinz so the sauce would be thick & even added tomato paste & drained diced tomatoes. To accompany the meal I made a quick sauté of the veggies I had on hand, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, onions & Roma tomatoes, seasoned it lightly with steak seasoning & dinner was ready in no time. Even had left over for todays dinner

Ingredients For chunky sloppy rose burgers

  • 4 lg
    jalapeno peppers, seeded & sliced
  • 5 md
    sweet peppers chopped
  • 2 lg
    onions, chopped
  • 2 1/2 lb
    ground chuck
  • 3 1/2 c
    heinz catsup
  • 6 oz
    can tomato paste
  • 1 jar
    roasted sweet red peppers, drained & chopped
  • 2 can
    diced tomatoes drained 14 1/2 oz. each
  • 1/2 c
    brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 1/3-1/2 c
    worcestershire sauce or as desired
  • hamburger buns

How To Make chunky sloppy rose burgers

    Seed & chop the variety peppers & onions into desired size pieces.

    I chose to use ground chuck.

    These are some of the main ingredients used to make this recipe.

    Add the olive oil to the skillet then heat over medium high heat, then add in the chopped veggies and sauté about 5 minutes, then add in the ground chuck, break it up with a wooden spoon and continue to cook until no pink remains. Drain if there is an excess accumulation of fat in skillet.

    Add in the catsup and Worcestershire sauce & brown sugar, and pour into meat mixture, and stir till blended, and allow to cook an additional 15 minutes or so till flavors blend together.

    Drain the tomatoes and add to a large bowl or dish, then add in the tomato paste and stir till blended together. Add in the chopped roasted red peppers & blend.

    Pour over the cooked ground beef, and stir to blend in.

    Allow to simmer so flavors will meld together and become somewhat thick. Remember to stir to prevent sticking to bottom of skillet. Serve as desired and enjoy.
