I never really measure the water, I just rinse the cans out and add to the pot, if you do not plan on simmering the chili all day you really do not need to add a lot of water.

Ingredients For dave’s chili

  • 3 slice
    bacon
  • 1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 lb
    ground pork
  • 1 can
    14-16 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 can
    10 oz cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 can
    6 oz can tomato paste
  • 14 oz
    water
  • 1 can
    16 oz can red beans
  • 1 md
    onion
  • 2 clove
    garlic
  • 1 Tbsp
    salt and pepper
  • 1 Tbsp
    red pepper
  • 1 tsp
    paprika
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 3 dash
    red pepper flakes
  • 2 sm
    bay leaves

How To Make dave’s chili

    Cook the 3 slices of bacon, then remove and hold aside for latter.

    In the bacon grease brown the ground meat and pork on high.

    Lower the heat and add diced onion and garlic glove, let the onions sweat a few minuets
  • 4
    then add the diced tomatoes, sauce, paste, water and season to taste. simmer 2-3 hours (3-6 hours would be better and serve the next day.)

    After the first hour add the beans (optional) and skim grease if needed,
  • 6
    Crumble bacon and add to chili, if you have not eaten it yet, before serving.
