This is one of my nephew's favorite dishes,so I make it often when they come over,especially the little ones! I like to serve the sauce on top of the pasta, not mixed together,but my boys like it mixed. I like to use all kinds of pasta shapes,the kids love it.

Ingredients For spaghetti and meatballs

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 c shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 c freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 1/2 t. italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 c bread crumbs
  • 1 egg,beaten
  • 2 8 oz cans tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c olive oil
  • 1 large onion,chopped
  • 1 c fresh mushrooms,sliced
  • 1/2 c green bell pepper,minced
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic,minced
  • 3-4 fresh basil,chopped
  • 2-3 sprigs parsley,minced
  • salt and pepper
  • 1/2 t, dried oregano
  • 28 oz can italian tomatoes,chopped
  • 1/2 lb dry pasta

How To Make spaghetti and meatballs

    Combine beef,cheeses,Italian seasoning,salt,pepper,bread crumbs, egg,1/2 c tomato sauce and 1 T. parsley. Shape into meatballs. Chill uncovered.Heat 2 T.oil, add meatballs in a large skillet brown on all sides,you may need to cook them in batches. Remove from pan,drain and set aside. Heat remaining oil,add vegetables and saute until onions and peppers are soft add seasonings,tomatoes and remaining tomato sauce,simmer 30 mins . Add meatballs,simmer until meatballs are cooked through.Boil pasta according to package instructions, less 2 mins. Drain. Add to sauce. Simmer 2 mins ,stirring gently. Sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese.
