This is an old-fashioned "hotdish"; a real comfort food sort of thing. It's great served with a vegetable and corn meal muffins.

Ingredients For chili - mac hot dish

  • 2 clove
    garlic, chopped
  • 1 c
    chopped onion
  • 1 1/2 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 3
    celery ribs, chopped and cooked
  • 1 can
    tomato paste (6 oz)
  • 1 can
    diced tomatoes (14.5 oz)
  • 1 can
    tomato sauce (8 oz)
  • 1 can
    cream of mushroom soup, light
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 4 c
    cooked macaroni

How To Make chili - mac hot dish

    In a dutch oven, brown hamburger with onion and garlic. Drain well.

    Add remaining indgredients, except macaroni, and cook until thickened, about 1 1/2 hours. If dish becomes too thick, thin with more water or tomato juice. Add macaroni during the last half hour so it doesn't overcook and get mushy.
