This is my first attempt at posting a recipe, I hope you all enjoy these tasty treats!! This was a great idea shared with me by my former mother-in-law. These are easy to do, tasty, and the recipe can be expanded to serve as few or as many as you need. Make sure you let them cool a bit before trying to open the foil up, as I have burned myself a few times...

Ingredients For baked hot dogs

  • 1 pkg
    hot dogs
  • 1 pkg
    hot dog buns
  • ketchup
  • yellow mustard
  • 1/2 lg
    onion, chopped
  • 8 slice
velveta cheese (make slices fairly thick)
  • 8 sheet
    aluminum foil

How To Make baked hot dogs

  • 1
Tear sheets of aluminum foil and set aside. Chop onion. Slice cheese (I use the brick style Velveta cheese). Pre-heat oven to 350°
  • 2
Place each hot dog inside a bun, squeeze mustard and ketchup along the sides of each hot dog. Take each slice of cheese and cut it in half, then place it on top of each hot dog. Top each hot dog with chopped onion (I do it this way because it helps keep the cheese from sticking to the foil).
  • 3
Place each hot dog on a sheet of foil, fold foil around hot dog, and place on a baking sheet (I use a pizza pan). Bake for 30 minutes, remove from oven and allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
