I've been making this pizza since I was around 10 or 11 years old. This is some good stuff and well worth the effort to go through to make it. The dough in this pizza makes the whole thing so tasty, a bit yeasty and very distinct. The original dough recipe came from the side of a Gold Medal Flour sack. Over the years it has evolved some to become my own. You can top this with anything you choose, so I'll give you my latest version. This recipe makes a pretty good size pie,15 slices and I load it a bit so 1 or 2 slices for an adult will fill you up. My friends love when this one comes out

How To Make homemade pizza

  • 1
place package of yeast in warm water and let bloom for about 10-15 minutes
  • 2
sift together flour, salt, and sugar. add water yeast mixture to form a dough
  • 3
let dough raise for about 1 hour or until it has at least doubled in size. punch down and let raise an additional hour
  • 4
while dough is raising mix together sauce ingredients and set aside until dough is ready. I use 1 15oz. and 1 8oz. can of tomato sauce, if you use 1 large (28oz.) your pie will be very wet and still very good but it becomes a fork and knife pizza and not a grab a slice and eat with your hands pizza.
  • 5
oil a 13 x 20 cookie and work dough to fill sheet
  • 6
add sauce and all toppings except cheese
  • 7
    preheat oven to 425 F.
  • 8
cook pizza 25 minutes @ 425, remove from oven, add cheese, return to oven and cook an additional 6-8 minutes or until cheese is completely melted and starting to brown a little
  • 9
remove from cookie sheet to cutting board, (this can be a little tricky, as the pizza is very hot and heavy. Get some Help) rest 10 minuted and slice

Mine is a vegetarian version, I personally just do not enjoy all the grease from pepperoni, and sausage. If i add sausage I precook it. I've also done a Hawaiian with pineapple and Canadian bacon. The skies the limit add whatever toppings you like
