This is "Dinner Is In The Jar"! I am posting 2 recipes to give you an idea how you can make these dinners up to help you in an emergency ie: snowstorm, hurricane, natural disaster, power outage and also for convenience when you don't have time to cook etc. I am taking these recipes from the book "Dinner Is In The Jar" by Kathy Clark I am working on my own recipes, however, you can purchase her book by going to dinnerisinthejar.com I will post my creations when I complete them. Ingredients For cheesy chicken casserole

  • IN QUART JAR OR MYLAR BAG
  • 2 c
    macaroni, elbow
  • 1 Tbsp
    chicken bouillon
  • IN A BAGGIE IN THE JAR OR MYLAR BAG
  • 1 1/2 c
    long grain white rice, uncooked
  • 2 Tbsp
    bell peppers, dried
  • 2 Tbsp
    celery, dried
  • 1 Tbsp
    minced onion, dried
  • 1 Tbsp
    beef or chicken bouillon
  • ADD SEASONING TO PINT JAR OR MYLAR BAG
  • 3/4 c
    chicken gravy powder
  • 3/4 c
    dry milk powder
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    sour cream powder
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    cheddar cheese powder
  • 1/4 + 1/8 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1 tsp
    italian seasoning
  • pinch
    black pepper and cayenne
  • 1/4 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • ADD ON
  • 1 pt
    cooked chicken
  • 1 c
    cheddar cheese
  • LABEL - DON'T FORGET TO ADD LABELS AND DIRECTIONS

How To Make cheesy chicken casserole

    Remove oxygen absorber. Boil 3 1/2 c water. Add macaroni. Simmer, uncovered, for 13 minutes or until water is almost gone.

    Empty the baggie with the rice into a second pot and add 1 1/2 c water. Cover and simmer on medium heat for 15 minutes. Adjust heat to low for another 15 minutes.

    Whisk contents of seasoning pint with 3 c water. Simmer a few minutes until thick and powders are cooked, stirring often to assure it does not burn.

    Mix rice, macaroni, soup mix and chicken. Put in greased 9x13 casserole. Top cheese. Bake at 350F degrees for 25-30 minutes.

    Hints: In dry jars or mylar bags add an oxygen absorber to keep out moisture during storage for freshness. Lots of information on Mylar Bags on Internet. UTube has lots of great video. **You do not have to process quart jars just seal tightly so air doesn't get in. Make sure they are very clean however.
