Ingredients For salisbury steak

  • 1 can
    10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup, divided
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/3 c
    dried bread crumbs
  • 1 lg
    egg, beaten
  • 1/4 c
    onion, finely diced
  • 2 Tbsp
    oil
  • 1 1/2 c
    fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 Tbsp
    water

How To Make salisbury steak

    In a large bowl combine 1/4 cup of soup, the beef, bread crumbs, egg, onion and salt and pepper. Mix well. Shape into 6 oval patties. Heat oil in large skillet. Add patties and cook over medium heat until well-browned on both sides, about 4 minutes per side. Remove patties and set aside. Drain fat from skillet. In same skillet over medium heat stir in remaining soup, mushrooms and water, blending well. Return patties to the skillet. Reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until cooked through, about 20 minutes, turning patties occasionally and spooning gravy on top. Serve immediately.
