mild hearty chili

I love Chili, but not too hot or spicy,for those that like to burn their stomach lining I leave hot pepper flakes and tobasco at hand. Whenever it is cold out, or snowing especially I get the urge to make a crock pot of my own version of chili. My kids love it, and you can freeze it for a later date.

Ingredients For mild hearty chili

  • 1 lb
    ground beef, or turkey
  • 1 can
    kidney beans, canned
  • 2 can
    pinto beans
  • 1 pkg
    mild chili mix
  • 1 md
    sweet onion
  • 3 clove
    chopped garlic
  • 1 tsp
    sea salt
  • 1 can
    diced tomato ( they come with onion and garlic too)
  • 1 lg
    can of chopped tomato
  • 3-4 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 3-4 sprig
    cilantro, fresh
  • 1 jar
    mild salsa

How To Make mild hearty chili

  • 1
    chop the onion, and garlic and brown in the olive oil until soft.Chop the cilantro and saute for a few seconds to release the oil in the leaves.

    Add the ground beef, or ground turkey and brown. Add 1/4 c of water, the chili seasoning mix and the jar of salsa and simmer for 15 min.

    Stir and add the cans of tomato, kidney and pinto beans and mix together. Pour it all in a crock pot and cook on low for about two hours. You can leave it up to 4 hours but add some water to it so it does not reduce down and burn.

    Top with oyster crackers, saltines or crushed Frito's or tortia chips and enjoy!
