My family is from Southwest Virginia and West Virginia. An all time favorite was a chilli dog or a chilli bun with mustard and onions. Most of the country makes it runny and with beans. We do not. Try it, you will like it.

Ingredients For hillbilly hot dog chili

    pounds ground beef
  • 6 Tbsp
    chilli powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make hillbilly hot dog chili

    Place the hamburger in a dutch oven, cover it with water. Break the meat up and bring it to a boil. Add the seasoning. Continue to break up the meat.Simmer until most of the water is absorbed. This will take a while

    You can add as much chilli powder as you like.

    You can serve this over a hotdog in a bun or alone. Most people eat it with mustard and onions.

    Freeze this in small bags and keep on hand for quick lunches or dinners.
