Offered as part of my Ground Beef Favorites Collection from First Ladies. This is purported to be the favorite dish of Mrs. Don Samuelson, Wife of Governor of Idaho I found these recipes in an old cookbook which has no name or any identifying labels.

Ingredients For first ladies / salisbury steak

  • 1 2/3 c
    saltines, crushed
  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    ketchup
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp
    parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    marjoram
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg
  • 1 can
    (10 1/2 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 tsp
    sherry
  • 1 dash
    garlic salt
  • 1 can
    (4 oz) sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 1 Tbsp
    chopped pimento

How To Make first ladies / salisbury steak

    Combine first eleven ingredients; mix well. Shape into oval patties Place in a deep dish.

    Heat soup with milk, butter, sherry and garlic salt. Pour over patties; cover

    Bake at 350 F for 45 minutes. During last 10 minutes, add mushrooms and pimento.
