Offered as part of my Ground Beef Favorites Collection from First Ladies. This is purported to be the favorite dish of Mrs. John A. Burns, Wife of Governor of Hawaii I found these recipes in an old cookbook which has no name or any identifying labels.

Ingredients For first ladies / crunchy oriental meatballs

  • 1
    egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 1 lb
    ground beef
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp
    chili sauce
  • 2 tsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 can
    (6 oz) choped water chestnuts
  • 1
    egg, beaten with 2 tbs water
  • 1 can
    (3 oz) crushed chow mein noodles

How To Make first ladies / crunchy oriental meatballs

  • 1
    Combine all ingredients except egg beaten with water and noodles. Form into balls. Dip into egg-water mixture; roll in crushed chow mein noodles.

    Fry in hot oil until golden brown.
