My dad would make this on Sundays for a special dinner, complete w/ mashed potatoes, gravy and fresh green beens.

Ingredients For dad's diner style salisbury steak

  • 1-1/2 lb
    lean ground beef or ground turkey breast
  • 1
    8 oz can cut green beans, drained, chopped
  • 1 lg
    onion, finely chopped, divided
  • 1/2 tsp
    paprika
  • 1/2 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    each salt and pepper
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 3/4 c
    low-sodium beef broth

    In lg bowl, combine ground beef or ground turkey, 1/2 cup onion, green beans, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper.

    Mix well with hands. Form into 6 oval shaped patties, about 1"-thick. Spray a lg skillet w/ cooking spray. Place skillet over med-high heat. Add patties to skillet. Place remaining onions around patties. Cook 10 mins, flipping over 1/2 way through.

    In bowl, whisk together flour, broth and a little pepper.until smooth. Add to skillet, bringing to a boil. Reduce heat to low, simmer 5 mins, or until sauce thickens, stirring occasionally. Serve w/ mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.
