Years ago I went to our Church gathering for a pot luck dinner. My friend brought this crock pot and everyone loved it. Got the recipe from her and have used it ever since. Can also be made on your stove top.

Ingredients For church gathering sweet & sour meatballs

  • 1 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 slice
    white bread, torn into pieces
  • 2 lb
    hamburger or ground turkey
  • 1 lg
    egg
  • 2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/8 tsp
    garlic salt
  • 1
    20 ounce can of pineapple chunks
  • 1/2 c
    chopped green and red peppers
  • 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 c
    pineapple juice plus water to fill the cup
  • 1/4 c
    wine vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 4
    beef bouillon, cubes

How To Make church gathering sweet & sour meatballs

    Mix together the first seven ingredients and shape into bals the size of walnuts.

    In a large skillet brown in 8 tablespoons on shortening until brown on all sides

    Add pineapple, green and red peppers to meat balls and cook until soft
  • 4
    To make sauce: mix sugar, salt and cornstarch.

    Add vinegar, soy sauce and bouillon cubes

    Heat to boiling and pour over meatballs

    Simmer 20 to 30 minutes on low heat

    Can be place in a crock pot after all is mixed together and cooked and kept on low heat for a pot luck dinner

    Can also be served over your favorite rice
