This i s my mother's recipe. It is the only Chop Suey I will eat.

Ingredients For chop suey

  • 1 lb
    chop suey meat or round steak
  • 3 slice
    bacon
  • 1 md
    onion, sliced
  • 3/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1 c
    boiling water
  • 1 Tbsp
    molasses
  • 1 Tbsp
    soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 1
    #2 can of chop suey vegetables
  • 3 c
    cooked rice
  • 1/2 c
    hot water
  • 2 c
    celery ,chopped if you desire
  • chinese noodles

How To Make chop suey

  • 1
    Cut meat to desired size. Cook bacon till crisp.Cook meat in bacon grease.When meat is done add sliced onion you can also add 2C's of chopped celery if you like.Add salt and boiling waterafter you let onion cook for awhile.Cover and simmer 20 mins. Blend 1/2 C hot water,cornstarch,molassesand soy sauce add to meat and onions.Cook until mixture boils stirring constantly. Then add drained veggies continue to cook till thourghly heated. Serve over rice with extra soy sauce and chinese noodles.
