Ingredients For spicy chicken chow mein

  • 1 Tbsp
    canola oil
  • 1 1/2 lb
    chicken breasts, boneless and skinless, cut into 1" pieces
  • 4 lg
    carrots, thinly sliced
  • 4
    green onions, sliced including green portions
  • 3
    celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 md
    green pepper, coursely chopped
  • 1 c
    chicken broth, reduced sodium
  • 1 Tbsp
    maple syrup
  • 1/3 c
    soy sauce, low sodium
  • 1/4 tsp
    crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 8 oz
    can, bean sprouts
  • 8 oz
    can, sliced water chestnuts
  • 1/4 c
    cornstarch
  • 1/2 c
    water

How To Make spicy chicken chow mein

    Heat oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces and cook until brown. Put in crock pot. Add remaining ingredients, except cornstarch and water; stir to combine. Cover; cook on low 6 to 8 hours.

    Turn to high. In small bowl, stir cornstarch into cold water until dissolved. Stir into liquid in crock pot. Place cover slightly ajar on crock pot. Cook until thickened (15 to 30 minutes). Serve with cooked rice or Raman noodles with chow mein noodles, if desired.
