hot buttered rum mixture

This freezes real well so I have it when people stop by in the cold months. I have also been known to give as presents in a basket with a couple of fancy mugs and a small bottle of spiced rum. I just keep the mixture in a small jelly jar in the fridge or freezer until the last minute when I put it in the basket.

Ingredients For hot buttered rum mixture

  • 1 lb
    real butter (no substitutes)
  • 1 lb
    dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp
    nutmeg (freshly grated preferred)
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    ground cloves

How To Make hot buttered rum mixture

  • 1
    Cream all ingredients together and put into a ziplock freezer bag. Freeze until you want to use it. Keeps a log time.

    To serve: place 1 heaping Tablespoon of mixture into a mug. Add 1 1/2 ounces of dark or spiced rum. Fill mug with boiling water. Stir and serve hot. Great served with sweetened whip cream on top.
