Don’t call it a ‘comeback’ it never went anywhere. Although, The Last Word has surged back into the spotlight the past few years, it’s been around since Prohibition. Introduced at the Detroit Athletic Club by a well-knows vaudeville star, the quartet of gin, lime juice, maraschino liqueur and Green Chartreuse might seem like a tough sell on paper. Yet, somehow, those combative elements of sweet and earthy merge into total harmony in the glass.

Ingredients For the last word (michigan)

  • ¾ ounce gin
  • ¾ ounce green chartreuse
  • ¾ ounce maraschino liqueur
  • ¾ ounce lime juice, freshly squeezed

How To Make the last word (michigan)

    Combine all ingredients in to a cocktail shaker and fill with ice. With a bartender’s spoon stir briskly round and round until nicely chilled.

    Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a black maraschino cherry.
