Most states have elected milk as their official beverage, so Ohio has shook things up with its choice of tomato juice. What better way to showcase the tangy tomato (for which the state throws a yearly festival) than in a Bloody Mary? Jake’s in Cleveland Heights, throws a curveball with the addition of sharp pepperoni brine.

Ingredients For jake’s bloody mary (ohio)

  • 2 oz. vodka
  • 4 oz. tomato juice
  • ½ oz. freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp. horseradish (preferably freshly grated)
  • 2-3 dashes tabasco sauce
  • 2-3 dashes worcestershire sauce
  • ½ oz. peperoncini brine
  • peperoncini pepper, garnish
  • lemon wedge, garnish

    Add all ingredients to a shaker with a cup of ice and shake vigorously to blend.

    Fill a highball glass with fresh ice and pour strained cocktail into the glass.
