Gramma handed down a lot of recipes! This is her favorite Strawberry Pie recipe. Momma found the hand-written recipe in a drawerful of recipes, all hand-written! I treasure this! I copied the recipe with all the misspellings and in her speech patterns! The notes in parentheses are mine for clarification.

Ingredients For gramma's strawberry pie

  • 1 qt
    fresh strawberries, hulls cut off
  • 3/4 c
    water
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    cornstarch
  • 1 tsp
    lemon juice
  • 9
    inch baked pie crust (she made her own pie crust)
  • whip cream to go on top

How To Make gramma's strawberry pie

  • 1
    Put all except 1 cup berries in the bottom of pie crust. Spred out good.

    Cook rest of berries in the water five minites.
  • 3
    Put in sugar and stir good. Put in cornstarch.
  • 4
    When this thikens put in lemon juice.
  • 5
    Cook all this til it is clear.

    Pour all this over berries in the pie crust. Put in ice box (my note: place in refrigerator) until cool.

    Whip cream and put on top. Keep any pie that's left over in ice box.
