I've not made this pie in years it reminds me of my childhood. Nothing like a old southern pie to bring back memories of hanging in the kitchen. My daughter loved this pie making this today makes me miss her so much. Rest in peace momma`s love.

Ingredients For buttermilk chess pie

  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 1 stick
    butter, melted
  • 3
    eggs, beaten
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla or lemon extract
  • 2 Tbsp
    (heaping) of flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    cornmeal
  • 1/2 c
    buttermilk

How To Make buttermilk chess pie

  • 1
    Combine sugar, flour, cornmeal. Mix well. Add melted butter,mix. Add eggs, mix. Add vanilla extract and buttermilk. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake 10 minutes at 425 degrees. Bake 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
