This version of the Southern favorite was passed down through my father's side of the family. it's a favorite at Thanksgiving, or whenever the extended family gets together.

Ingredients For big mother's chess pie

    eggs
  • 2 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 Tbsp
    cornmeal
  • 2 Tbsp
    vinegar
  • 1/2 c
    evaporated milk
  • 2 stick
    butter, melted
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2
    unbaked pie shells

How To Make big mother's chess pie

    Preheat oven to 350.

    Beat eggs well.
  • 3
    Add sugar, flour, cornmeal, vinegar, evaporated milk, melted butter and vanilla. Continue beating as each ingredient is added.

    Pour into unbaked pie shells.

    Bake 30-35 minutes at 350.
