My now 100-year-old grandmother has probably stirred up 100's of bowls in her time of this simple dessert, for her children and several generations of grandchildren. To her it was an affordable treat for the kids, to us it was just delicious. For the first couple of generations it was one of the few sweets we were allowed, to succeeding generations it is a tasty novelty, so different than the fancy candies they are used to. Sometimes she would heat it just a little on the stove, and boy, was that good!
