While trying to eat healthier I came across this recipe. It uses ground flaxseed,oats, cherries and cranberries. It's really quite good and my son-in-law says their great. Hope you enjoy! For weight-watchers the points are 6

Ingredients For cran-cherry oat bars

4 ozdried cherries, finely chopped

4 ozdried cranberries, finely chopped

1/2 cwater

2 tspvanilla

1 cquick cooking oats

1/2 cground flaxseed
-
1 1/2 cunbleached or all-purpose flour

1/4 cfirmly packed brown sugar

3/4 tspbaking soda
-
3/4 tspsalt
-
1/2 c+2tablespoons light pancke syrup+1 teaspoon maple flavoring

4 Tbspbutter or canola margarine, melted

1/3 cfinely chopped pecans or walnuts
How To Make cran-cherry oat bars

1Pre heat oven to 350'F. Combine cherries & cranberries in small saucepan with 1/2 c. water and bring to a boil. Reduce heatr and simmer until thickened,stirring frequently ( about 3 mins.) Remove from heat and stir in vanilla; set aside.

2In mixing bowl, combine oats, flaxseed, flour, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Mix well with a pastry blender or electric mixer. Drizzle belted butter and pancake syrup over the top or oat mixture and blend with pastry blender or mixer.

3Spread 2 cups of oat mixture in the bottom of an 8 inch or 9 inch square baking pzn, coated with canola cooking spray and press firmly. spread cherry fillin evenly on top.

4Combine pecans with remaining oat mixture using pastry blender or fork and pat firmly and evenly on tip of filling. Bake at 350'F in center of oven for 20 minutes or until golder brown. Let cool. Cut into squares. ENJOY!!
